Mechanic III - Maintenance

About the role

Perform basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic repair and preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Perform welding, cutting and soldering using electric and gas equipment.
• Occasionally work in refrigerated areas where temperature extremes can reach 10 degrees F.
• Follow all GMP’s, food safety, and quality policies.
• Ensure all GMP and food hygiene and safety standards are in compliance.
• Report all food safety incidents such as GMP violations, ingredient and product contamination, metal detector, screen, or magnet deficiencies, glass breakage, and pest harborage.
• Ensure compliance in the areas of food defense, food regulations, and product/process quality; provide adequate coaching as needed.
• Record accurate and legible results on documentation.
• Provide adequate housekeeping at all times.
• Must occasionally test energized electrical equipment or pressurized hydraulic devices to troubleshoot before repairing.
• Service equipment from elevated surfaces or from ladders with exposure to falls always present.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment as a mechanic.
• Medium to high degree of judgment required.
• Basic math skills necessary.
• Special certification may be required for use of forklift and chemicals and certain mechanical skills.
• Knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs as needed.

Skills

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Demands

• Moderate degree of physical activity on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
• Repetitive standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, grasping, climbing, reaching, and moving about the facility.
• Hearing ability to meet manufacturing facility safety requirements; works in high noise area and wears appropriate hearing protection.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Exposed to cold/heat/humidity.
• Able to work a multi-shift environment.
