Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and engine defects in buses and other automotive equipment, including diesel engines.
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of engine codes under the OBD-II system.
  • Prepare vehicles for service, including cleaning and washing.
  • Ensure proper operation of engines, tools, and equipment by checking for worn parts and completing preventive maintenance according to manufacturers' maintenance manuals.
  • Change oil filters, install anti-freeze and snow chains, repair tires, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearings, and other assemblies as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on all vehicles and equipment, including snow removal machines, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventory; check stock levels and anticipate needs.
  • Mend damaged body parts and perform metal fabrication using arc and oxyacetylene welding equipment.
  • Maintain logs and worksheets of inspections and maintenance performed on all equipment.
  • Overhaul and rebuild engines, transmissions, differentials, and other electrical components using testing devices and machine equipment.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing, listening, and checking mechanical devices in operation; remove defective parts and correct conditions.
  • Operate a variety of light equipment and power tools while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Repair and replace seats, glass, sheet metal, latches, and other body components and assemblies.
  • Perform minor snow removal around the shop and off equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to ski/snowboard (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of automobile or equipment maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanic problem-solving.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations.
  • Knowledge of the OBD-II system.
  • General knowledge of diagnosis and repair of hydraulic systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and smell.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Capable of frequent wrist, elbow, and shoulder twisting and pulling movements.
  • Capable of walking or standing 70% or more of a normal 8-hour work shift.
  • Capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs., and frequently lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 40 lbs.
  • Capable of climbing movements, walking on uneven terrain, and walking on snow and ice.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.
  • Often in contact with hazardous substances.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme hot/cold, wet conditions, noise, fumes, or airborne particles, and the risk of electric shock.
  • The noise level in the workplace is usually loud.

Pay

$28.00 - $32.00 per hour.
