Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all members of the crew.
  • Produce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information is available for the work.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, means, and methods regarding the work and be willing to learn from others.
  • Continually seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.
  • Perform high proficiency preventative maintenance on all related equipment.
  • Inspect subordinates' work, ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications, explain deficiencies, and take any necessary corrective action.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry with an in-depth understanding of the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy construction equipment (e.g., backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, trenchers, rollers, scrapers, forklifts, haul trucks, water trucks, and dump trucks).
  • Experience with welding and cutting torches.
  • Ability to read and understand technical publications, specifications, safety, and quality standards.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess own tools.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Current physical card and commercial driver’s license (or willingness to obtain one).

Physical Requirements

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on stairs and ladders.
  • Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • Stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest).
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Use telephone, computer systems, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.

This is a safety-sensitive role, including tasks that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others, such as operating or repairing vehicles/equipment, handling hazardous materials, or working with power tools.
