Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance functions.
- Affords assistance in inspection of plant and mechanical equipment for malfunctions and needed repairs.
- Affords assistance in performance of troubleshooting and repair work and determination of repair methods.
- Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunction.
- Participates in cleaning and maintenance of machinery, equipment buildings and pump stations.
- Affords assistance in installation and set-up of new equipment.
- Performs minor plumbing and pipe-fitting tasks.
- Affords assistance in using gas and/or arc welding equipment to heat, cut, braze, or weld.
- Consults with Maintenance Foreman, Maintenance Manager, or equipment representatives on difficult or complicated repairs.
- Performs clean up, painting, and adjustment of equipment.
- Performs duties of an operator as required.
- Performs Carpentry work.
- Performs upkeep of structures and grounds.
- Affords assistance to Road Crew when required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Relevant Trade School education or equivalent experience preferred.
- One year of experience working with mechanical equipment similar to that used in a wastewater treatment plant preferred.
- General knowledge of the operation of equipment and the methods of maintenance and repair of machinery, instrumentation, and controls.
- Ability to review written maintenance literature and accurately interpret manuals and drawings with minimum outside assistance.
- Ability to perform basic use of hand tools.
