Mechanic

About the role

Mechanic**. Jefferson Transit has an opening for a full-time (40 hr/wk), mechanic responsible for performing skilled mechanical tasks in the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electric, gas, propane, and diesel-powered vehicles, and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on all types of vehicles and equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
• Repair and replace parts as needed
• Use a complete set of heavy equipment tools and a roll-a-way toolbox

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in automotive mechanics preferred
• Must be able to work evening or weekend hours

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical skills
• Good problem-solving abilities
• Physical ability to perform manual labor

Skills

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment
• Knowledge of vehicle systems (electric, gas, propane, diesel)
