About the role
Mechanic A Technician, performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Conducts tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Responsibilities
- Installs equipment, engines, hoses, batteries, tires, wheels/brakes, HVAC, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
- Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment is working properly.
- Serves, repairs, adjusts, and tests machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles.
- Inspects equipment, structures, etc., of materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Requirements
- Mechanic A: 5+ years’ experience.
- Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair the most difficult of all vehicle and equipment service.
- Must be able to teach Mechanic B and C as time permits, more complex repair techniques.
- Demonstrate superior mechanical skills and mentoring capabilities.

- Must be able to teach Mechanic B and C, as time permits, more complex repair techniques.
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills and mentoring capabilities as well as perform other duties to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department.
Physical Demands
- 10% of work is accomplished indoors and in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- 90% of work is accomplished outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work is performed alone and in remote locations.
- Frequently stand and walk; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
- Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
- Must be able to travel for company training, meetings, or support missions.
