Primary Purpose
Responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of all natural gas liquid processing plants or facilities with significant complexity above typical maintenance operations as determined by the department. Also responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of all gas/liquid pipeline, terminal, pump and compression-related facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate compressors, engines, auxiliary units, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, seals, valves and related equipment.
- Monitor and control process variables, such as pressure, temperature and flow rates to efficiently achieve desired operating results.
- Start, stop and operate engines/pumps and other equipment to maintain designated operating parameters.
- Assist in the planning and performance of maintenance and repairs on compressors, engines, turbines, auxiliary equipment, pumps, process controls, and related equipment.
- Ensure the cost-effective and efficient performance of all gas and liquid processing units and associated equipment.
- Monitor quality of product to ensure meeting specifications and takes appropriate actions when out of specification product is identified.
- Monitor or directly transfer product to above or below-ground storage and through the pipeline system.
- Communicate with company control centers, business groups and other operating groups as necessary.
- Communicate with shippers concerning product movement.
- Oversee the construction, maintenance and/or security activities performed by third parties.
- Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Represent the Company during contacts with landowner/tenants and public officials/emergency officials.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Be available to work a rotating shift.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Participate in safety and security program and initiatives.
- Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.
- Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
- Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Will work non-traditional hours as needed, assisting operations and weekend callout rotations.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
- Perform all daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
Education
- Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree/certification.
- Knowledge of compressor or pump station, gathering field and processing plant operations.
- Knowledge of gas and liquid processing theories and fundamentals.
- Knowledge of operating costs associated with the equipment in area of responsibility.
- Willingness to achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications (OQ) and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.

- Strong mechanical aptitude on related equipment.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).

- Ability to apply forceful exertions, including pushing with up to 60 pounds of force, pulling with up to 40 pounds of force over short distances (e.g., 3 feet), and sustaining force applications such as 20 pounds of force over extended distances (e.g., 177 feet).
- Skilled in upper extremity motions such as grasping, pinching, fine motor movements, and applying rotational forces to tools and parts.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and bend the lumbar and cervical spine repeatedly during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to reach overhead, at shoulder, waist, knee, and floor levels, and perform shoulder circumduction, bending, twisting, and pivoting as needed.
- Ability to work safely in environmental conditions with exposure to heat, moisture, ambient temperatures, whole body vibration, and loud noise.
Physical Demands
- Capable of lifting and transporting objects weighing up to 67.5 pounds, including floor-to-waist lifts and carrying loads of up to 62 pounds over distances of approximately 300 feet.
- Proficient in applying forceful exertions, including pushing with up to 60 pounds of force, pulling with up to 40 pounds of force over short distances (e.g., 3 feet), and sustaining force applications such as 20 pounds of force over extended distances (e.g., 177 feet).
- Capable of applying 89 foot-pounds of rotational force.
- Must be able to perform manual material handling tasks involving lifts, carries, and forceful exertions, often in awkward or elevated positions.
- Capable of reaching overhead, at shoulder, waist, knee, and floor levels, and performing shoulder circumduction, bending, twisting, and pivoting as needed.
- Skilled in upper extremity motions such as grasping, pinching, fine motor movements, and applying rotational forces to tools and parts.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and bend the lumbar and cervical spine repeatedly during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Able to work safely in environmental conditions with exposure to heat, moisture, ambient temperatures, whole body vibration, and loud noise.
Working Conditions
- Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may be required.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Living environs will be relevant to the work location to address call outs and emergency response.
- May be required to carry a cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
- The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, background check, and fit-for-duty examination, including credit reports for specific positions—after receiving a job offer and before commencing employment.
