The Role

Must Have:

About the Role

Join our team of skilled tradespeople at Newport News Shipbuilding, where you'll contribute to the design, construction, and maintenance of some of the world's most advanced naval vessels. As a Mech Tech N 1 (Sheet Metal) you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling sheet metal components, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

As a Mech Tech N 1 (Sheet Metal), you will:

• Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to blueprints and specifications
• Perform welding and cutting operations using various equipment
• Inspect work for accuracy and adherence to quality standards
• Work collaboratively with other tradespeople and engineers to ensure seamless production processes
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in sheet metal fabrication
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience with CNC machines and CAD/CAM software
• Knowledge of material properties and their applications
