About the role

The MEC technician plays a crucial role in SunSource's Mobile Hydraulic Business Unit. Key responsibilities include verifying parts, inspecting and assembling hydraulic systems, testing components, and painting finished units.

Responsibilities

  • Verify parts to Bill of Materials (BOM) and work orders to prepare for assembly
  • Inspect parts and various components
  • Assemble units according to MEC specifications
  • Follow best practices for assembling hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, manifold, proportional, cartridges, pumps, and engine cooling units
  • Adjust components and equipment in the test room
  • Set cartridges in the test room per blueprint instructions
  • Test all assembled systems for quality, quantity, and time
  • Paint completed units in the paint booth
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the shop and shop equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development
  • Aid MEC technicians with assembly, testing, process training, and mentoring
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned within SunSource

Requirements

  • Education—2-year fluid power associate degree, Mechatronics or other mechanical disciplines strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience—1 to 5 years in fluid power assembly or shop experience. Testing and troubleshooting experience preferred. Ability to work with engineering and other MEC Technicians to meet customer expectations of quantity and timing. Detail oriented, to provide the highest level of quality to the customer.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift to 75 lbs.
  • Position stands 95 to 100% of the workday
  • Meets or exceeds MEC standards on assembling units and final hydraulic testing
  • Contributes to the MEC team metrics of 110 labor hours closed out per day
  • Builds products in each work cell proficiently
  • Quality, meets customers and shop performance with 0 warranty claims
  • Housekeeping, keeps the work area clean and organized
  • Safety, observes all safety guidelines, wears PPE daily
  • Keeps up to date with IFPS certifications
  • Has completed SunSource Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic certification
