About the role

Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies. Provide customer service while demonstrating the company’s leadership behaviors and core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness, safety, and proper rotation.
  • Maintain clean and well-organized sales areas, backrooms, coolers, carts, tools, and supplies.
  • Keep floors clean, safe, and free from clutter.
  • Manage display cases to ensure proper inventory levels and freshness.
  • Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
  • Provide excellent customer and associate relations.
  • Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Department policies.
  • Create a clean, neat, and friendly impression for customers.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
  • Assist customers promptly and cheerfully, including greeting them and helping locate products.
  • Follow all company, state, and federal rules, laws, and duties related to meat handling and food safety.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
  • Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
  • Adhere to company policies on dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and a harassment-free work environment.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities safely and properly.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
  • Qualified to operate power tools and equipment (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, jack, etc.).
  • Ability to safely work with chemically based cleaning solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and assist department members.
  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive impression.

Desired Experience

  • Meat work experience or similar food preparation experience.
  • Dependable and integrity-driven work record.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA compliance and food handling.
