Responsibilities
- Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies.
- Wait on customers and provide customer service.
- Demonstrate the company's leadership behaviors and core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
- Effectively communicate in written and oral formats.
- Read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
- Operate power tools and various job tools, including automatic wrappers, slicers, grinders, power saws, and jacks.
- Work safely with chemically based cleaning solutions.
- Work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and assist all members of the department.
- Handle stressful situations tactfully and calmly while maintaining a positive impression on associates and customers.
- Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, and orderly manner.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness, safety, and proper rotation.
- Maintain clean and well-organized sales areas, backrooms, coolers, and designated storage for carts, tools, and supplies.
- Keep floors clean, safe, and free from clutter.
- Monitor display cases to ensure proper inventory levels and freshness.
- Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
- Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Department policies and procedures.
- Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
- Communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
- Wait on customers promptly and cheerfully, greet customers, and assist them in finding products.
- Follow all current rules, duties of the Meat Department, company policies, and state and federal laws.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
- Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly in dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintaining a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
- Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum willingness and availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
- Qualified and able to operate power tools and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, jack, etc.).
- Ability to work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to help all members of the department.
- Ability to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations.
Qualifications
- Desired meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
- Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, and food handling.
