Responsibilities
- Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies.
- Wait on customers and provide customer service.
- Demonstrate the company's leadership behaviors and the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
- Check product quality to ensure it is always fresh, safe, and properly rotated.
- Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers, floors, carts, tools, and supplies clean and well organized.
- Work display cases to ensure proper inventory levels and freshness.
- Unload trucks, sort, and prepare merchandise for sale.
- Wash and sanitize equipment in accordance with company and Health Department policies and procedures.
- Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers.
- Communicate with customers and fellow associates.
- Wait on customers and counter promptly and cheerfully.
- Greet customers and assist them in finding products.
- Follow all current rules and duties of the Meat Department, Company, and State and Federal laws.
- Keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
- Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum willingness and availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels.
- Qualified and able to operate power tools and various job tools (automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, jack, etc.).
- Must work safely with various chemically based cleaning solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help all members of the department.
- Ability to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
- Desired meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
- Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc.
