Meat Production Supervisor

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise daily meat processing and production operations in the Meat Cutting Room and warehouse
Manage the meat production schedule to maximize sales and profitability through effective pack selection, cut meats, and primals
Ensure full USDA and HACCP compliance; enforce food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and date control standards at all times
Monitor and control inventory levels; rotate product, schedule production, and minimize over/under stocks to maximize in-stocks and drive sales
Oversee correct receiving procedures including inspection, dating, cleaning, temperature control, and storage of all products
Ensure product is priced and packaged to company standards, including correct Cryovac pouches and labels
Maintain warehouse floor, equipment, and work/stock areas to meet or exceed company standards for safety and cleanliness
Ensure all equipment is calibrated and in proper working order
Protect company assets by controlling inventories and shrink; monitor gross profit and maintain required USDA records and 3-year databases
Train, coach, and develop meat plant staff on proper handling, preparation, and safety procedures
Provide leadership to the plant team and support to the Plant Manager; participate as a key member of the management team
Deliver excellent customer service to stores and handle inquiries, special orders, and complaints effectively

Requirements

  • Strong meat cutting experience in a retail or wholesale meat environment — this is essential
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in meat processing or food production
  • Solid knowledge of HACCP, USDA compliance, food safety, and meat department operating principles
  • Proven ability to safely operate knives, meat saws, and other meat department tools
  • Strong inventory management and production scheduling skills
  • Customer-driven mindset with a track record of delivering sales and bottom-line results
  • Computer proficiency in Excel and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Analytical skills and ability to handle confidential business information
  • Cold/refrigerated and freezer environment — must be comfortable working in extreme temperature conditions
  • Frequent lifting of 50+ pounds
  • Extended periods of standing; requires full use of hands, arms, and body mechanics
  • Occasional extended hours as needed
