Meat Plant Production Supervisor
About the role
This position oversees and coordinates activities of workers involved in Ground Beef (both fresh and frozen) and receiving operations within the ground beef areas. It operates on a night shift schedule, running from Sunday to Thursday, with shifts starting at 2PM until the end of the shift.
Responsibilities
- Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations to workers.
- Convenes with supervisors and managers to align activities across different departments.
- Creates production schedules and estimates worker hours needed for job assignments.
- Compiles and submits accident reports as required by the company for industrial and/or meat plant incidents.
- Warns violators of rule infractions and contacts security when necessary.
- Assigns tasks and reviews work for accuracy, neatness, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Advises employees on packaging, equipment usage, and related issues.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Issues written and oral instructions and maintains harmony among workers while resolving grievances.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers towards achieving work goals.
- Facilitates training and review processes for all department players.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Responsible for timely and accurate distribution of paperwork to payroll and support departments.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
- Reviews production costs and product quality, modifying production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the Meat Plant.
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience within production/processing environments.
- 1+ years’ supervisory experience.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Able to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations associated with this position, which are written in English.
Physical Demands
- Regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent exposure to extreme cold.
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places and extreme heat.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Pay
The pay for this role is weighted based on several factors, with a base salary expected to start at $70-80K, with annual bonus potential.
Schedule
This is a night schedule, operating Sunday through Thursday, with shifts starting at 2PM until the end of the shift.
