Schedule

  • Monday to Thursday, 3:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until completion.
  • Friday hours may vary based on seasonality or production requirements.

Summary Of Position

The Meat Grinding Tech operates various machinery in the grinding department and general utility work within the meat production room, reporting to the 1st Shift Meat Production Supervisor. This position supports the grinding department in producing various bulk and portioned ground meats.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete grinding equipment training within 60 days of hire.
  • Understand product raw material identification and handling.
  • Understand and execute assigned daily workload safely, accurately, on-time, and on-budget.
  • Actively offer feedback and suggestions for improvement to the Meat Grinding Lead or the 1st Shift Meat Production Supervisor.
  • Embrace and understand the data driven approach utilized in the meat production room.
  • Be a daily supporter of Fortune’s mission/vision/values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schedule, work instructions, safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to calculate basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to communicate with room leaders (written and verbal).
  • Ability to lift (see details below under physical & mental demand).
  • Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours, when needed.
  • Previous machine operating experience preferred.

Physical & Mental Demand

  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower position to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Seeing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Close Visual Acuity: Required for preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Visual Inspection: Required for determining the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Proximity to Moving Mechanical Parts: Required for proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Working with Electrical Current: Required for working with electrical current.
  • Working on Scaffolding and High Places: Required for working on scaffolding and high places.
  • Exposure to High Heat: Required for exposure to high heat.
  • Exposure to Chemicals: Required for exposure to chemicals.
