Meat Cutter

Nino Salvaggio is looking for a Meat Cutter to join our busy meat department in Bloomfield.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, bone, grind, and properly prepare meats such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish.
• Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counters.
• Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers.
• Wrap, count, separate, weigh, label, price, display, and merchandise cuts of meat.
• Follow established department procedures for receiving and unloading incoming meat department orders and shipments.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and clean working environment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., USDA, Health Department, OSHA).
• Follow compliance rules for local, state, and government weights, measures, and labeling laws (e.g., tares).
• Operate all necessary and authorized equipment according to company policies and safety guidelines.
• Assist customers with orders and questions per company customer service guidelines.
• Handle damaged or spoiled product according to company and department guidelines to control waste.
• Demonstrate knowledge of product quality standards, prices, varieties, and preparation methods.
• Notify management immediately of any safety or equipment issues or violations.
• Assist in training associates when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends.
• Must be 18 or older to operate equipment (e.g., meat cutter, slicers, knives).
• Previous meat cutting experience.
• Excellent organizational skills (detail-oriented, goal-oriented, follow-through).
• Strong interpersonal skills (people skills, innovative, proactive).
• Ability to stand and/or walk for 8 or more hours.
• Ability to regularly bend, lift, and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in extreme conditions (cold, wet, humid, or hot environments).
