About the role
Festival Foods is a Wisconsin grocer dedicated to community service and guest satisfaction. We operate over 40 full-service supermarkets across Wisconsin. This role is part-time, with early morning shifts including one weekend day. Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Responsibilities
- Expert Meat Cutting: Prepare all non-case ready meat products, including cutting, grinding, wrapping, and trimming, according to established standards.
- Butchery Leadership: Provide expertise and leadership on the sales floor, ensuring safety and sanitation guidelines are followed, and inventory is effectively managed.
- Culinary Knowledge: Apply extensive knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques to assist guests and enhance product offerings.
- Quality and Quantity Standards: Maintain and meet quality and quantity standards by filling all service and self-service cases, including fresh, frozen, and processed products.
- Team Support: Support your teammates and contribute positively to the Meat Department culture.
- Drive Sales: Increase sales by focusing on product details and ensuring visual appeal.
- Minimize Waste: Reduce shrink by following production lists, accurate trim standards, and minimizing waste.
- Product Management: Ensure meat products are properly packaged, labeled, and stored according to company policies and procedures.
- Training: Assist in training utility team members in various tasks such as grinding, sausage making, cutting for the service counter, special orders, wrapping, and filling products.
- Cleanliness and Safety: Lead by example in maintaining the cleanliness of the department, including the operation, maintenance, and sanitization of equipment.
- Guest Services: Provide excellent service at the meat counter, offering expert knowledge and attentive assistance to guests.
- Special Orders: Collect and fulfill special orders and requests in a timely manner.
- Perform Other Duties: Support the team as needed to maintain a positive work environment.
- Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a butcher or in meat cutting within a grocery store, retail, or meat production setting.
- Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
- Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
- Product Knowledge: Knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat.
- Age Requirement: Must be over the age of 18.
Qualifications
- Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly.
- Lift up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Schedule
The Meat Cutter position can be part-time or full-time, with work schedules including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility to work evenings or overnight as needed.
