About the role
CGS is seeking a System Admin, MID to support the US Army's Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, KS. The role combines technical skills with big picture thinking to enhance national security.
Responsibilities
- Manage servers, workstations, virtual machines, networks, and simulation software (WARSIM) and the JLCCTC Cross Domain Solution Suite (JCDSS).
- Maintain and optimize the U.S. Army's constructive simulation toolkit ensuring mission-rehearsal exercises on various operations run flawlessly.
- Enable large-scale, computer-based training for Army commanders and battle staff.
- Install, configure, and update simulation applications and peripheral devices.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in line with DoD Information Assurance directives.
- Maintain hardware and software baselines across distributed nodes and exercise networks.
- Deploy, test, and troubleshoot constructive simulations.
- Ensure interoperability with live Mission Command platforms so staff can train on actual Army systems.
- Validate that JLCCTC outputs correctly stimulate Mission Command environments.
- Troubleshoot integration points with C2 hardware and software.
- Support After Action Review (AAR) tools by capturing, replaying, and exporting simulation data.
- Aid exercise directors in debriefs to highlight performance metrics and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with exercise planners, instructional designers, and senior leaders to refine training scenarios.
- Propose enhancements to increase simulation fidelity, scalability, and ease of use.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- DoDM 8140 qualifications with primary DCWF role of Technical Support Specialist and secondary roles of System Administrator and Product Support Manager at intermediate tier
- Three (3) years of experience with Military training and training support
- Three (3) years of experience in integrating training environments, planning architectures, and stimulation of Army Mission Command Information Systems (MCiS) in support of unit training events and distributed exercises
- Three (3) years of experience in performing system enhancements and installing software updates
- Proficiency with JLCCTC applications (WARSIM) and WARSIM's intel model WIM or equivalent constructive simulation tools
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs) and secure LAN/WAN operations
- Familiarity with DoD configuration and patch management processes (DISA STIGs, SCAP)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to instruct non-technical military personnel
- Active DOD Top Secret clearance is required
