McMurdo Facilities Maintenance Planner
About the role
The McMurdo Facilities Maintenance Planner supports the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) under the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Key responsibilities include developing and executing maintenance schedules, creating preventive maintenance plans, interfacing with facilities leadership and crafts, managing inventory, and providing KPI and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed maintenance schedules based on equipment needs, workload, and priorities.
- Create and mature preventive maintenance plans to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
- Partner with facilities engineering and leadership to implement preventive maintenance strategies.
- Provide input to facilities leadership on maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with facility engineers and teams to ensure necessary resources are available.
- Analyze inventory to support planned and scheduled maintenance.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in leadership, maintenance planning, or a similar role.
- A foundational understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, asset lifecycles, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- A strong ability to read drawings and identify components.
- Mastery of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or a similar enterprise system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams to the successful completion of specific maintenance objectives.
- Proficient with use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Qualifications
- GED or more advanced education in technical associates degree, college degree, or Journeyman/Master Trade License.
- Organization & Planning: Ability to execute thorough job walk-downs, write step-by-step tasks ensuring safe and efficient work.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of maintenance processes, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Communication & Coordination: Diplomatic communication is crucial for negotiating equipment downtime with leadership, coordinating with stakeholders, and gathering feedback from maintenance technicians.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading teams to the successful completion of specific maintenance objectives.
- Computer Skills: Proficient with use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Skills
- Mastery of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or a similar enterprise system.
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional, CMRP.
