Responsibilities
- Aids assigned medical provider and mid-level in the clinical setting including physical examinations, complex medical testing, and treatment administration.
- Prepares patients for medical testing and interprets test results.
- Consults with physicians to implement treatment plans and administer medications and injections.
- Coordinates chart preparation and scheduling of referrals, follow-up appointments, and diagnostic tests with assigned medical assistant and scheduler.
- Manages prescription calls and refills, obtains prior authorizations, and coordinates with the call center team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates ability to function within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Communicates effectively, both written and verbally.
- Analyzes information and handles emergent requirements efficiently.
- Participates as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Eligible for preceptor premium pay upon completion of preceptor education and leader approval.
Education
- Associates degree in Nursing required.
Experience
- Three (3) years of professional nursing experience required.
Licenses/Certifications
- Active TX Nursing licensure required.
- CPR/BLS required.
- PALS - Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within 60 days of employment.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life support required within 60 days of employment.
