Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a senior MBSE/Digital Engineer Lead located at LA AFB in El Segundo, CA. This is a full-time role requiring an active TS with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Model Based Systems Engineering and digital engineering in support of US Space Force Space Systems Integration Office (USSF SSIO).
  • Create and document an analytic framework for modeling and simulating potential System of Systems (SoS) and Family of Systems (FoS) materiel solutions and concepts in appropriate scenarios to evaluate and recommend modernization changes.
  • Create analytic tooling and perform trade study assessments of, and recommend changes to, candidate surface, air, and space mission systems.
  • Design, develop, and test critical software applications in all phases of product development and operational deployment.
  • Translate customer and system requirements into robust software design with a test-driven approach.
  • Interact with Systems Engineers and Government Customers to understand/define life-cycle requirement needs.
  • Ensure software quality by performing thorough requirements analysis, design, and code reviews.
  • Successfully communicate project plans, tracking details, status updates, and risk mitigation plans to the cross-functional team.
  • Support engineering management analysis and provide control of ZA engineering processes to ensure disciplined processes are in place and pedigreed, highly credible products are generated.
  • Support development of a capability to procure, use, and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering software and tools.
  • Investigate and solve bugs and system issues.
  • Support the development and use of digital engineering environment tools, including internal integration of SMC/ZA Models and SSC digital environment (functional installation, set-up, and maintenance of Mod Sim software for any Digital Engineering Ecosystem SSC participates in).
  • Provide innovative solutions.
  • Provide leadership to the contract digital engineering team.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of combined industry, federal government experience, or SETA/FFRDC supporting federal government acquisition with a focus on MS&A, Digital Engineering, or programming.
  • Must be well-versed in programming languages and able to perform all duties independently.
  • Ability to innovatively interpret and effectively apply acquisition regulations, law, policy, and guidance with demonstrated results.
  • Knowledge of Model Simulation and Analysis tools (MS&A, MBSE).
  • Proficiency with C#, CAMEO, Python, SysML, and/or Sparx Enterprise Architect (EA).
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Active TS with SCI eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science Degree (M.S.).
  • Knowledge of MBSE Modeling tools (Cameo and/or Sparx EA) and modeling languages and frameworks (SysML v1/v2, UAF).
  • Knowledge of Mission Engineering principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge and use of scripting/coding (Python and Java).
  • Strong Systems Engineering background.
  • Ability to establish strong communication with customers and build solid relationships.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new services and programs.

Pay

$180,000 USD - $200,000 USD
