Responsibilities
- Coordinate curriculum and guide students through their academic programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain high-quality curricula in Pillar 3 to enhance clinical learning and prepare students for residency.
- Mentor faculty in required Pillar 3 courses and develop elective opportunities.
- Bring new course proposals to the Medical Education Committee and explore options for distinction opportunities such as micro credentialing and certificates.
- Lead the development of the Medical Accelerated Program in collaboration with residencies.
- Collaborate with associate deans of medical education, medical student affairs, and registration officer on Pillar 3 curricular programs.
- Collaborate in the implementation and maintenance of online Pillar 3 scheduling and enforce policies for away electives.
- Participate in sessions for Pillar 2 students on Pillar 3 course selection and residency application preparation.
- Run clinical competency committee meetings and track students' monitored academic status.
- Collaborate with the Office of Medical Education to ensure programs meet accreditation requirements.
- Develop, implement, and oversee processes for collecting and reporting student grades to the registrar.
- Attend relevant conferences and symposia related to curriculum development in transition to residency.
- Support specialty-specific curricular opportunities for students.
- Work with the Parry Center to coordinate 'Night on Call' simulation experiences for students.
- Review Program Director feedback on students' residency preparedness to identify important themes for course content.
- Identify mechanisms for providing students with feedback on their readiness for residency and determine how they are assessed and assigned grades.
- Coordinate daily paging simulation experiences and debriefs.
Qualifications
- MD/DO with current SD licensure or ability to obtain one and appropriate certification for field of specialty.
- Leadership experience in a medical school or similar environment.
- Experience in student services in an academic environment is preferable.
