About the role
The Description Teacher works at a public separate program located on a school campus, providing programming that focuses on students becoming socially and emotionally functional and independent in a school setting. Academic Instruction is informed by Common Core Standards and implemented through school- and community-based learning experiences which are motivating and meaningful to students.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic instruction informed by Common Core Standards.
- Implement school- and community-based learning experiences.
- Facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Show independent and professional judgment in daily functions.
- Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
- Work effectively with others.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
- A Bachelor's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
- Desired knowledge: Plan and facilitate IEP meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions; maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others.

- Compensation: 12-month teachers shall be compensated for the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 12-month salary schedule for working a 12-month work year.
