Mathematics Teacher - Middle School
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Middle School Mathematics Teacher to teach grades 5–8. The ideal candidate has experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or is enthusiastic about project-based and inquiry-driven learning. This position also includes the opportunity to teach advanced coursework—such as Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus—to advanced middle school students. The successful candidate will design engaging lessons, use varied assessment strategies, and foster a supportive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical confidence. Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and families are essential.
Overall Responsibilities
- Teaches a full-time course load as determined by the school, which may include elective classes or coaching responsibilities. Should these activities exceed a full-time course load, additional compensation will be provided
- Delivers differentiated instruction based on identified student needs and learning styles
- Utilizes a range of teaching techniques effectively and inquiry-based instruction whenever appropriate
- Institutes effective classroom management routines; utilizes positive discipline techniques and displays awareness of the whole classroom
- Promotes an appreciation of global-mindedness throughout our curriculum
- Serves as an advisor, providing small-group and one-on-one guidance and support in the students' academic, social and emotional learning and acts as the first point-of-contact for parents and teachers to provide holistic support for each advisee
- Supervises arrival, dismissal, lunch, and/or recess
- Other duties as defined by the Head of Middle School or the Head of School
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Valid teaching certification or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience teaching Middle School at the 5th through 8th grade level
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment
