Compensation

Compensation: Base $66,500, Tested Subject $2,000, Experience $200 per year, Advanced Degree-Masters $3,000; PHD $5,000. Comprehensive Benefits: Health (Medical, Vision, Dental), Short Term Disability, AAE, & Pension.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters preferred)
  • New Jersey Certification (CE,CEAS) with subject matter specialization: Mathematics
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques
  • Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles
  • Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students and faculty etc.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers school middle school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
  • Designs and delivers mathematics instruction in compliance with the iLearn Schools Mission and Vision for Teaching and Learning of Mathematics
  • Equips students not only with mathematics content, but also with the Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMP)[1] to help them succeed in doing and using mathematics across K-12 curriculum and in their college and career work
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed
  • Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of iLearn Schools, Inc.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
  • Coincides with district testing programs

Experience

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Familiar with robotics tools, and necessary computer software and platforms to teach programming, physical computing, and engineering design.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the iLearn Schools Inc. board policies and procedures. Reports to: School Director Supervise: Students Terms of Employment: Ten month employee Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
