About the role

Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role with training and onboarding support provided. Organization: Alignerr, Hourly Contract, Remote, Commitment: 10–40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Develop, solve, and review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and intellectual depth
• Apply expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas to design complex, rigorous problem sets
• Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for accuracy, clarity, and logical soundness
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model performance
• Ensure mathematical rigor and precision across all deliverables — from problem statements to worked solutions

Requirements

• Holder of a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
• Deeply fluent in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
• Experienced with Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or applied projects
• A precise, detail-oriented thinker who communicates complex ideas clearly in writing
• Comfortable working independently in an asynchronous, remote environment
• Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with data annotation, data labeling, or AI evaluation workflows
• Background in academic research, technical writing, or curriculum development
• Familiarity with AI tools or large language model outputs
• Experience reviewing or grading advanced mathematical work
