Math Tutor PT

About the role

This position provides motivated and skilled Math Tutoring to students in college-level mathematics. The role involves in-person tutoring in a welcoming, inclusive environment that fosters academic growth, concentrating on face-to-face Math tutoring services at the tutoring centers on the Muncie Campus.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students enrolled in Ivy Tech’s Math courses in one-on-one or small-group settings following the established protocol in the Tutoring Center.
• Complete a summary report for each student upon completion of a session.
• Work with faculty when necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
• Sustain high-quality customer service while facilitating back-to-back tutoring sessions.
• Apply advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve student questions and inquiries.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams—including faculty—using transparent and empathetic communication to elevate departmental services and contribute to team initiatives.

The above functions require independence, judgment, discretion, and mobility within the office or work area.

Requirements

• Associate degree or documented proficiency in Math subject matter.
• Experience in tutoring with adult learners and a diverse population.
• Knowledge of the college tutoring process.
• Over two (2) years of related experience in a computerized work environment.
