About the Role

This is a full-time, 190-day position within the Akron Board of Education. Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year, compensated at the hourly extended time rate. The role is part of the State Teachers Retirement System and falls under the AEA Collective Bargaining Unit.

$48,967.10

Responsibilities

• Engage community and business partners to incorporate resources into curriculum development and student products.
• Assist all students in meeting or exceeding 21st-century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards.
• Articulate clear learning objectives and guide students toward achieving curriculum goals.
• Plan and deliver learning experiences that advance each student’s individual growth, with written evidence of preparation available upon request.
• Design authentic learning experiences (e.g., collaboration, problem-based learning, inquiry) to develop core knowledge, 21st-century skills, and literacies.
• Partner with business and community organizations to create authentic learning experiences.
• Organize and plan instruction based on subject matter, student needs, community context, and curriculum goals.
• Assist in planning and implementing intervention and remediation for students who have not mastered content standards.
• Develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies for academic growth.
• Use technology to help students learn, think critically, solve problems, communicate, innovate, create, and collaborate.
• Use continuous, authentic, and evidence-based assessment measures to improve instruction and provide feedback.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, engagement, self-motivation, and positive social interaction.
• Provide learning opportunities that support students’ intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Serve as a student advisor in the advisory program and guide students on service-learning projects.
• Work closely with students and parents to guide future education and career choices.
• Model teaching expectations and maintain professional competence through evidence-based and best practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction and share responsibility for outcomes with the school community.
• Use a variety of communication methods and technologies to interact with students, parents, staff, and partners.
• Contribute to and participate in public presentations.
• Build positive working relationships with students to maximize opportunities for success.
• Remain flexible, innovative, and adaptive to change.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Develop and enforce reasonable classroom behavior rules and procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Collaborate with the building principal to lead the school through a shared decision-making process.
• Use electronic tools for grading in New Tech and district applications.
• Report to and be supervised by the building principal.

Requirements

• Valid State of Ohio 7-12 licensure in Math.
• Participation in Professional Development (PD).
