About the role

The Role

As a Math Content Coach (Math Teacher), you will serve as the primary instructional resource for our Graduation Candidates (GCs), delivering competency-based content, supporting personalized learning, and guiding students toward graduation and post-secondary success. You’ll work with a collaborative team to provide academic, social-emotional, and career-oriented support that empowers each learner’s journey.

This position is part of a new school launch, with hiring aligned to support the upcoming academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support new GC enrollment through recruitment and engagement efforts
  • Aid in the development of Personalized Learning Plans for GCs
  • Serve as an advisor for assigned GCs by maintaining communication with learners and their support team
  • Maintain oversight of attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness to ensure consistent engagement and achievement
  • Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settings
  • Monitor GC academic progress toward course completion and mastery using formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomes
  • Provide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate success
  • Participate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community events
  • Collaborate with the GC support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plans
  • Represent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiatives
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s mission

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master's preferred
  • Licensure: Ohio 6-12 secondary certification in Mathematics (REQUIRED)
  • Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)
  • Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
  • Passion: A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settings
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education models
  • Experience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based education
  • Strong comfort with educational technology tools and platforms

Physical & Work Environment

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
  • Work in a collaborative classroom or office setting and may involve exposure to outdoor weather during events
  • Occasional travel between nearby academy sites may be required to support student needs or operational coverage
