The Catholic-Franciscan high school seeks a passionate, student-centered Mathematics Teacher committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and the empowerment of young women. Key Responsibilities
Teach a range of high school mathematics courses, which may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and/or Calculus.
Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with state standards and departmental goals.
Utilize instructional practices that promote critical thinking, reflection, and meaningful discussion.
Create curricular activities that promote student movement, hands-on learning, and collaboration.
Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative measures and provide timely feedback.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
Foster a classroom culture that promotes academic excellence, collaboration, respect, and personal responsibility.
Catholic Identity & Faith Formation
Serve as a visible and authentic witness to the Catholic faith and Franciscan values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
Integrate Catholic teachings and the Franciscan charism into classroom instruction once per unit.
Encourage students' spiritual growth through prayer, reflection, service, and faith-centered dialogue.
Support the school's mission by fostering a culture of joyful discipleship and Christian witness.
Professional Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records, grades, and communication with students and parents.
Hold office hours before and/or after school twice per week (same day/time each week) and respond to email and/or phone inquiries within 48 hours during the school week.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-sponsored events.
Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and uphold the mission of the school.
Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Qualifications
Valid Michigan State Teaching Certification (required).
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred).
Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum and instructional best practices.
Commitment to educating and mentoring young women in a faith-centered environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
