Math Interventionist (0.33 FTE), Bilingual (Spanish/English), Amigos

About the role

The Amigos School seeks a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Math Interventionist to provide math support to identified students within a multi-tiered system of support. This part-time (0.33 FTE) role involves planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and Common Core. The successful candidate will set high expectations, use scaffolding and differentiation, and deliver intervention in both Spanish and English. They will collaborate with colleagues to create an academically and linguistically engaging, culturally responsive curriculum for dual language learners.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess students in collaboration with the school’s math team, matching needs with appropriate interventions and monitoring progress.
• Address unique student needs and improve instructional practices through team collaboration.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, school-wide, and district functions.
• Partner with families to support each student’s learning and development.
• Attend school leadership team meetings.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in a two-way bilingual setting with language minority students acquiring a second language.
• High levels of native language proficiency in Spanish and English (listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing).
• Awareness of the developmental needs of young learners and strategies to meet those needs through curriculum.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Education and/or Mathematics strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with and appreciation of PK-6 students and their needs, issues, and interests.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse staff and student body.
• Commitment to equity in education and belief that all students are capable of excelling in math.
• Massachusetts Teacher Certification/Licensure in Mathematics or Elementary Education.
