About the role

The Materials Testing Technician I position involves performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. The role also includes communicating with various stakeholders about project requirements and testing results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
  • Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative, and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results.
  • Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
  • Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
  • Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Aid in scheduling and dispatching Technicians to project sites.
  • Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties under close supervision.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss the accuracy of data in preparation for submission.
  • Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Progressively increase training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Maintain assigned equipment.
  • Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Ensure quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.

Preferred Certification

  • Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.

Benefits

Terracon offers a competitive salary range from $18.50 to $22.25 per hour, along with a comprehensive Total Rewards program including compensation, benefits, recognition, and training & development opportunities.

Maximum Salary: $22.25
