About the role
The Materials Testing Technician I position involves performing field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials. The role also includes communicating with various stakeholders about project requirements and testing results.
Responsibilities
- Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
- Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative, and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results.
- Transport material samples to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Aid in scheduling and dispatching Technicians to project sites.
- Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties under close supervision.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and discuss the accuracy of data in preparation for submission.
- Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
- Progressively increase training and responsibility in work assignments.
- Maintain assigned equipment.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
- Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Ensure quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months experience required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
Preferred Certification
- Obtain Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire.
