About the role
WSB is seeking a Materials Testing Technician for our Arlington or Melissa locations. WSB is looking for well-known and trusted professionals who value honesty, integrity, a strong work ethic, and superior client service.
Responsibilities
- Perform field tests according to prescribed procedures and standards.
- Provide test and inspection data for environmental, engineering, field, and laboratory projects.
- Must have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Collect soil and concrete samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports.
- Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare reports and/or technical data.
- Operate computer systems and peripheral equipment.
- Maintain results log.
- Confer with Engineering staff on test efforts.
- Set up, maintain, and calibrate equipment.
- Requires some lifting and carrying.
- Field assignments may require travel and/or work to be performed on site.
- Work with other task team members and leaders.
- Considerable contact with clients, subcontractors, and vendors expected.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must pass the following exams within 60 days of employment: Nuclear Density Safety Course.
- Ability to lift/carry a case that weighs 95 pounds and push up to 250 pounds in a wheelbarrow required.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Operates tools requiring fine motor skills.
- Moves materials weighing up to 75 pounds periodically.
- Traverses construction sites having uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
- Conducts visual assessments of task quality and job site safety.
Qualifications
- Primarily field-based role must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full-time position with standard business hours; occasional night work or overtime may be required based on project deadlines.
- Must be able to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
- Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory.
