Materials Supervisor
About the role
Follow daily procedures to ensure all customers receive their correct product in a timely and efficient manner. Supervise material handlers to ensure proper procedures are followed. Focus the Materials team on implementing plans to achieve goals. Achieve customer satisfaction by continually improving customer relations through communication and product timelines.
Responsibilities
- Supervise material handlers including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Achieves customer satisfaction by continually improving customer relations through communication and product timelines.
- Maintain a just-in-time supply of raw materials.
- Ensure FIFO of materials.
- Perform cycle counts.
- Design and implement policies, procedures and methods as required to facilitate objectives.
- Assists with inventory control and customer billing.
- Performs new product/process analysis to ensure the customer/supplier just-in-time system is maintained.
- Facilitates the procurement of transportation services as required to maintain a just-in-time process.
- Manage mobile equipment PM and safety conformance.
- Provides management guidance and direction to all employees in the materials function to ensure a safe, efficient and effective department.
- Assist in the facility recycling process as applicable.
- Participate in cross-training in all functions of the Materials organization.
- Participate in monthly inventory process.
- Establish and maintain 5S standards for Materials.
- Other duties as assigned by Materials Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, materials or supply chain preferred.
- Three years experience in a manufacturing environment including materials and logistics.
- Possess understanding of: modern manufacturing principles, current inventory and materials control, methodology to include MRP/JIT processes.
- Must demonstrate the ability to successfully plan, coordinate and direct the activities of the material control function, which includes the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the systems and procedures associated with the functional area.
- Possess excellent computer skills, ERP experience is an asset.
- Understanding of AS400, CMS preferred.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
- Experience with AS400 and CMS.
