About the Role

Responsible for executing purchase orders for all serial production parts in accordance with MRP requirements, lead times, and master production schedule. Manages supplier delivery dates and adjusts for changes in the master production schedule or mitigation/expediting due to supplier delays or part nonconformity. Oversees inventory management to assure part availability while maintaining minimal inventory levels.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement
    • Place POs for all assigned parts per MRP to support the master production schedule
    • Verify all terms and conditions of the PO with supplier
    • Confirm all POs, including quantities and delivery dates, with suppliers
  • Supplier Management
    • Manage system notifications and evaluate current delivery dates to determine if orders need to be expedited or delayed
    • Manage open orders to ensure all needed parts are on order and communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules
    • Maintain current pricing and lead times in the system of record
    • Mitigate delays impacting production schedules by collaborating with Sr. Buyers, Production Scheduling, Planning, and Logistics
    • Escalate situations that cannot be mitigated
  • Transportation
    • Manage all inbound transportation from suppliers within area of responsibility
    • Coordinate schedules with Logistics (receiving) and Quality (receiving inspections) for deliveries outside normal schedule, priority, or large volume
    • Confirm adequate personnel will be available for processing
    • Oversee all claims with freight forwarder and process new orders for damaged goods
  • Inventory Management
    • Track each production order and monitor parts in area of responsibility
    • Identify shortages and expedite as required to avoid production delays
    • Manage inventory levels to ensure no excess or obsolete inventory and drive just-in-time practices
    • Monitor design changes to identify:
      • Inventory needing to be used up prior to effectivity
      • Inventory that can be reworked to the next higher index
      • Obsolete inventory that must be scrapped
    • Monitor all Quality Nonconformance notifications (Q notes) in area of responsibility
    • Ensure parts are available to complete builds and place POs for replacement parts, expediting if needed
  • Safety
    • Follow all office safety policies
    • Ensure compliance with shop floor safety regulations when in production, logistics, warehousing, or staging areas
  • Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all RECARO policies, procedures, and work instructions
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory or governing bodies, including AS9100, EN9100, ISO9001, ISO14001, FAA, EASA, Airbus, or Boeing

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of experience in procurement or a related field; or 4+ years of experience in procurement or a related field with no degree
  • Professional attitude, positive outlook, and excellent communication skills
  • Frequent interactions with all levels of the organization, including executive management, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to manage through influence, particularly with Engineering and Quality groups
  • Capable of working in dynamic situations and taking on tasks outside standard work scope
  • Ability to effectively lead a small group
  • Understanding of basic material movement processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with MRP systems/SAP experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter preferred
