Material Control Planner III

About the role

Procure mass production raw materials for the wire harness business while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdowns.

Customer Service Functions

• Review entire pipeline and consider PO cancellations, push-outs, urgent orders, normal orders, etc., to maintain a steady supply without exceeding Material Controls inventory goals.
• Communicate with assigned vendors regarding POs, backorders, forecasts, expedite requests, or delivery issues.
• Weekly review, release, and interpretation of weekly forecast and backorder reports.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Review, release, and interpret forecast information to the assigned vendor base.
• Review backorders and issue Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notices to the vendor base.
• Provide consistent support to Material Control and other relevant departments for pending supplier invoice payments related to late or lack of delivery, receiving by supply warehouse, supplier discrepancies, etc.
• Inform production plants of material arrivals and advise of any potential production issues.
• Generate forecast reports, inventory reports, obsolescence controls, downtime reports, and other necessary reports.
• Follow up on any activities requested such as setting meetings with suppliers, addressing discrepancy issues, invoice issues, and requesting effective countermeasures from suppliers due to repetitive issues (e.g., delivery issues, backorders, etc.).
• Assign carriers (FedEx/UPS/DHL) for expediting and track shipments to avoid downtime at the plant.
• Travel to manufacturing sites as needed for communication and streamlining of various production phases, which may occur anywhere from 0-5 days per week, depending on the company's needs.
• Apply problem-solving techniques, including Kaizen focus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in production, material planning, and/or warehouse operations
• Effective analytical, written, and oral communication, negotiating skills are essential
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) programs, with proficiency in Excel
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Positive attitude and team personality
• Some travel required (domestic and international)
