Materials Management Tech Full Time

About the role

Coordinate and participate in purchasing, receiving, storing, distributing, shipping, mailing, patient charges, and record-keeping activities to ensure adequate inventory for all patient care areas as well as office supplies and equipment. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Responsible for transporting specimen, supplies, equipment, paperwork and all other materials deemed necessary between HPI facilities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Check supply areas and re-stock.
• Order supplies in a timely manner by running the reorder analysis or issuing POs for non-stock items.
• Issue Purchase Orders for implant cases.
• Sticker patient chargeable items or verify that all implants have charge codes for appropriate billing.
• Accurately file POs and receivers.
• Accurately receive inventory and special order items; verify packing slip to PO and receive it in the computer system.
• Transport assigned materials between destinations to expedite the continuous workflow of all hospital operations.
• Cooperatively meet the needs of all requests made by customers in a timely and efficient manner.
• Understand the importance of proper handling and transport of all specimens and other materials under direct care.
• Maintain a daily log for all items received, delivered, or purchased.
• Maintain an orderly and safe environment; check work area and equipment to ensure safe and proper functioning; follow reporting and maintenance procedures.
• Participate in disaster and fire drills; perform in emergency situations in a safe and timely manner.
• Observe departmental policy and procedures for safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
• Satisfactorily demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description and continually demonstrate competency in performing the job duties.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous hospital experience and knowledge of medical supplies preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical functions required.
