Materials Management Manager

Responsibilities

• Shipping and Logistics Management: Oversees all outbound shipments, ensuring packaging, labeling, and documentation meet customer, regulatory, and quality standards (including AS9100 and FAA regulations). Coordinates freight or carrier services, manages compliance and customs documentation, and ensures shipments are accurate and on time.
• Receiving and Inventory Control: Supervises all inbound shipments, inspects and verifies materials, updates inventory transactions in ERP systems (including expedited critical orders), and maintains accurate inventory through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation efforts. Maintains proper storage and traceability for raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, tooling, and flight-critical hardware.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensures adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements, enforces shelf-life control, proper handling, and documentation (e.g., certifications and packing slips). Supports internal and external audits, maintaining records for traceability, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Team Leadership: Leads and trains shipping, receiving, hardware & cycle counters personnel, assigns daily tasks, monitors productivity, and enforces procedures. Promotes safety, accountability, and continuous improvement, addresses performance issues, and fosters professional development within the team.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Works with Production, Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, and Customer Service teams to ensure materials are received and delivered efficiently, supports production schedules, resolves discrepancies, and communicates delays or risks to stakeholders.
• Process Improvement and Technology Use: Identifies efficiency improvements, analyzes shipping and receiving metrics (e.g., on-time delivery and inventory accuracy), implements standard operating procedures, and utilizes ERP, Microsoft Office, and carrier platforms.
• Fleet Management: Oversees vehicles, maintenance, compliance, driver supervision, and overall fleet performance to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Manages preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance (e.g., FMCSA), fuel usage, vendor contracts, scheduling, and data analysis to optimize fleet utilization. Works with Penske, contracted by Howmet.
• Additional Duties: Prepares shipping documents, labeling, and tracks shipments; maintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse environments; implements cost-reduction measures in shipping, receiving, and inventory processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Management experience preferred in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Key experience includes management of shipping, receiving, and inventory systems within aerospace or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of export regulations (ITAR, FAA, AS9100).
• ERP proficiency, leadership, and strong communication and organizational skills.
