Materials Handler
About the role
The Materials Handler position with Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is responsible for supporting construction operations within the laydown yard by safely receiving, storing, organizing, and issuing materials to field teams. The role includes operating light and heavy equipment, loading and unloading shipments, assisting with rigging and spotting for equipment operators, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring quality control of materials.
Responsibilities
- Receives, inspects, and performs QA/QC checks on all incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists
- Unloads, loads, stages, and stores materials including steel poles, wire reels, anchor bolts/cages, and transmission components
- Pulls and issues materials based on picklists and prepares items for shipment and jobsite delivery
- Lables, packs, and organizes inventory using tags, stamps, and electronic marking tools
- Conducts inventory audits, verifies accuracy, and rotates stock as needed
- Safely operates forklifts, loaders, and other heavy equipment for material handling and transport
- Performs rigging, cribbing, and spotting duties to support equipment operators and lifting operations
- Ensures all materials are stored and handled per safety and engineering standards
- Maintains clean, organized yard conditions and follows all safety procedures and guidelines
- Inspects equipment daily, reports issues, and maintains accurate documentation and records
- Supports additional yard operations including snow removal and other assigned duties
- Adheres to all internal policies, procedures, and safety standards
Requirements
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- 2 years’ experience operating heavy equipment within a materials/construction setting
- Certified Forklift Operator
Qualifications
- 4 years’ experience operating heavy equipment within a materials/construction setting; specifically for EPC projects within the electric power delivery sector

- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with other team members
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong knowledge of safety best practices employed by the construction industry
