Materials Handler

About the Role

The Material Handler performs daily activities of receiving, storing, pulling, packing, and shipping all supplies for the Lab and Client Supplies under the direction of the Materials Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Receive, stock, fill, and send supplies ordered by clients and phlebotomists via fax, email, and inter-departmental mail.
• Problem-solve via phone/email by contacting clients and/or phlebotomists.
• Verify outstanding supplies ordered by clients with the supervisor.
• Keep clients/phlebotomy informed of backordered supplies.
• Receive and stock supplies from all vendors according to department protocol.
• Ensure supplies are stored in designated areas for the department in which they are used.
• Label all containers with the date of receipt.
• Check invoices/packing slips to confirm quantities ordered and received, note back-ordered items, and forward invoices to appropriate personnel.
• Place labeled containers on appropriate shelving in the department.
• Physically shelve and rotate stock per department procedure, ensuring new stock is placed at the back and older stock at the front (FIFO).
• Observe expiration dates on supplies and use those with the shortest date first.
• Remove, collapse, and dispose of empty boxes, cardboard, and packing materials in designated bins.
• Discard all cardboard in the large trash bin outside at the end of each day.
• Inventory general lab items from various vendors on a daily basis.
• Dispose of biohazard materials following strict departmental policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Deliver lab supplies to various lab areas.
• Pull, pick, and pack client supply orders.
• Assist the lab in receiving large refrigerated orders.
• Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with industry best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect sensitive data.
• Familiarize and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
• Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
