Materials Designer

Location: Beaverton, OR (On-Site)

About the role

We are seeking a Materials Designer to support a special project focused on in-line work across multiple product segments, with exposure to partnership, signature, and core product work. Our team is looking for a candidate who brings a strong portfolio, a sharp sense of taste, and a thoughtful design process that clearly shows both successes and learnings.

Responsibilities

• Design materials for multiple segments of a line and contribute to in-line product work.
• Develop ideas that align with skateboarding, sneaker culture, and streetwear sensibilities.
• Present recent portfolio work that demonstrates taste level, process, and design approach.
• Collaborate with the team on partnership, signature, and core product projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in creative footwear material design.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience working on multiple segments of a line.
• Interest in or knowledge of skateboarding, sneaker culture, or streetwear.
• Portfolio with recent work that shows ideas for the SB brand, design process, and examples of successes and failures.
• Basic understanding of leathers, canvases, uppers, synthetics, wovens, and meshes; footwear trims is a plus.
• Understanding of the business aspects of material design and technical knowledge of materials.
• Previous Nike or industry experience is preferred, with a focus on skateboarding.
