About the role
The Materials Coordinator ensures all materials required for production are received, verified, organized, and staged in advance of scheduled manufacturing jobs. This position serves as the critical link between Receiving, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Production by proactively preparing materials to support on-time job starts and uninterrupted production flow.
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities, part numbers, and condition against purchase orders and packing slips
- Kit materials according to job-specific bills of material (BOMs) and work orders
- Stage kitted materials at designated production work centers in advance of scheduled job starts
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Inventory Control to resolve discrepancies, shortages, or quality issues
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update ERP system with receiving, kitting, and staging transactions
- Monitor material availability and proactively flag potential shortages or delays to Production and Purchasing
- Organize and maintain a clean, efficient staging area to support production workflow
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory as needed
