Materials Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Cover all operations within the materials department, including material planning, procurement, shipping/receiving, and warehousing.
  • Maintain inventory levels and coordinate with purchasing to ensure adequate parts and raw materials.
  • Process requests efficiently and effectively to ensure all departments receive necessary goods in a timely manner.
  • Ensure production flows smoothly by maintaining proper materials on hand.
  • Communicate with customers to fulfill their expectations regarding turnaround time.
  • Handle shipping and receiving of products, including UPS shipments.
  • Perform cycle counts and reconcile variances.
  • Update inventory systems and inspect/review received materials to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of new processes as needed.
  • Communicate with various departments to understand their material needs and ensure timely fulfillment.
  • Comply with quality performance standards.
  • Follow warehouse safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Understanding and proficiency in overseeing product flow processes and troubleshooting issues related to materials handling and distribution.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management systems.
  • An understanding of Six Sigma/6S/LEAN concepts.
  • Capable of prioritizing workflow efficiently while demonstrating problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Capacity to engage with customers in a professional manner.
  • Educational requirements: High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Physical demands and working conditions: Warehouse environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage a busy workload, organize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and effective decision-making skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and spreadsheet applications.

Skills

  • Understanding of Oracle purchasing module (preferred).
  • Previous experience in high-volume distribution, manufacturing, technical service (testing and repair), or forward logistics operations (preferred).
