About the Role

The Materials and Stores Supervisor I (M&SSI) manages Plant Operations inventory, tools, supplies, and warehouse functions under the direction of the Correctional Plant Manager II. This position is also open to individuals eligible for Training and Development assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with vendors.
  • Safely operate material-handling equipment.
  • Keep storage areas clean and organized.
  • Assist management with clerical duties.
  • Train and direct staff in proper warehouse procedures.

Working Conditions

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee to receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.

This position is located at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, California’s oldest correctional institution, established in 1852 in Marin County. The facility is transforming into a rehabilitation-focused center dedicated to preparing incarcerated individuals for successful reintegration into their communities.

Requirements

Minimum requirements are outlined in the Class Specification for MATERIALS AND STORES SUPERVISOR I (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY).

  • Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview or appointment.
  • If meeting qualifications through education, unofficial transcripts/diploma must be submitted for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
  • Foreign education must be verified for U.S. equivalency through a NACES-approved credential evaluation service.
  • New hires must undergo a background investigation, Live Scan fingerprinting, and a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, with annual testing thereafter.

Pay

$4,214.00 - $5,518.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

Permanent, full-time position. In-office work location in Marin County.
