MATERIALS AND STORES SUPERVISOR I (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

About the role

The Materials & Stores Supervisor I (M&SS I) under the general direction of the Warehouse Manager II and the supervision of the Materials & Stores Supervisor II (M&SS II), is responsible for the supervision of inmate workers and managing and maintaining inventory of property, products and/or goods stored, ordered, received and shipped to and from the California Medical Facility (CMF).

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate workers in the warehouse and storage areas.
• Manage and maintain inventory of property, products and/or goods.
• Ensure compliance with warehouse and storage procedures.
• Oversee the ordering, receiving, and shipping of materials and goods.

Requirements

Minimum requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a warehouse or similar setting.
• Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Modern warehousing methods and practices.
• Freight rates and classifications.
• Office of Procurement specifications.
• Regulations involved with consolidated freight shipments.
• Stock array systems.
• Freight claim procedure.
• Operation of motorized material handling equipment.
• Inventory and quality control.

Skills

Skills required include:

• Directing the work of others.
• Keeping accurate records and preparing reports of work done.
• Analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.
• Learning the operation of forklifts and other types of motorized material handling equipment.
