Material Specialist
Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to support the manufacturing site by ensuring material readiness, shortage visibility, and timely communication between Operations, Materials, Quality, Engineering, Planning, and the centralized Procurement/COE team. This role serves as the site connection point for production material risks, helping identify shortages based on the production schedule, coordinating internal actions, executing site-controlled material processes, and escalating risks to the appropriate buyer, planner, or functional owner.
What You’ll Do
- Serves as the primary liaison between Operations, Scheduling, Materials, Quality, and Procurement to ensure alignment on production priorities, material health, supply constraints and recovery actions.
- Identifies, analyzes, and communicates material shortages, supplier constraints, and schedule risks through daily tier processes, material walks and coordination with Procurement, Operations, Planning, Materials and Quality to support uninterrupted production.
- Develops and maintains a forward-looking view of material readiness by analyzing production schedules, inventory positions and supplier commitments to identify and mitigate emerging risks before they impact manufacturing.
- Captures and tracks shortages, coordinates expediting efforts, and drives cross-functional action plans, maintaining ownership of risk tracking, escalation processes, and follow-up activities until issues are resolved or appropriately escalated.
- Supports root-cause analyses for material disruptions and drives actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Identifies and escalates inventory and system discrepancies that could impact material availability.
- Partners with the Quality function to disposition rejected material while coordinating communications, documentation, and follow-up activities related to supplier quality issues.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow, shortage management, risk identification, escalation processes and system utilization.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Over 2 years of experience in manufacturing, materials management, production planning, supply chain, inventory control, logistics, or operations support. Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. Ability to analyze production schedules, inventory levels, shortages, and material status. Understanding of manufacturing operations, material flow, inventory transactions, and production support processes. Ability to prepare shortage reports, action trackers, escalation summaries, and management updates. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse, Inventory Control, and Procurement/COE.
- Preferred Qualifications: ERP system experience, such as SAP, MAPICS, Oracle, Vista, BaaN, or similar systems. Basic knowledge of supplier quality documentation processes, including rejected material, deviations, PPAP, RMA, and containment actions. Experience with consignment inventory, warehouse coordination, receiving processes, or production-line material support.

Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Schedule
This position is based out of our Beaver, PA facility and requires on-site presence.
