Material Operations Manager

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with the Commercial team on the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments
  • Anticipate and forecast material demand
  • Provide forecast to Commercial sourcing team on material demand by week
  • Develop and distribute daily/weekly run schedule
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements and company financial goals
  • Communicate with plant colleagues on inventories and anticipated production needs
  • Ensure and capture inventory accuracy of downgraded and rejected material from suppliers, in process and post production
  • Ensure material storage is in compliance with standards
  • Oversee procedures for shipping, receiving and storing raw materials
  • Organize and manage deliveries, advise shipment delays and/or information necessary to set up deliveries
  • Initiate traces with carriers for proof of deliveries when needed
  • Resolve invoicing issues in cooperation with suppliers and accounts payable
  • Establish procedures and supervise the annual physical inventory
  • Supervise, evaluate and coach staff members
  • Ensure that the company's standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions
  • Ensure all team members are trained and certified on tools, equipment and quality standards
  • Paradigm software knowledge a plus
  • Coach members on achieving goals and developing necessary skills that deliver results
  • Identify team goals and evaluate team progress
  • Organize team meetings, topics of discussion and progress toward the goal
  • Adheres to all company and regulatory safety standards and rules

Requirements

  • General Requirements: Relationship building, Agility and adaptability, Innovation and creativity, Employee motivation, Decision-making, Conflict management, Negotiation, Critical Thinking, Continuous Improvement
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree a plus APICS certification (e.g. CPIM) preferred
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in materials management in a manufacturing environment
