Material Handling Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates a process computer for process control.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Able to perform basic math.
• Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Inspects each assigned process area for abnormal situations, takes corrective action, and reports incidents to management.
• Operates and maintains stationary equipment and mechanical equipment.
• Reads instruments and logs data.
• Records operations and maintenance actions.
• Maintains an adequate supply of materials.
• Assists in training contractor employees in loading areas.
• Able to use computerized data management systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED or related military experience is required.
• Prior experience in railcar/truck loading operations or some relevant industrial experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to push, pull, bend and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
• Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
• Use of PPE required in specific areas.
• Willing and able to work 12 hour rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Work Environment

• Chemical manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals.
• Occasionally work in tight or closed-in spaces.
• Work outdoors, in sometimes inclement weather.
• Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment.
