Material Handler - Urgent Need (7 AM To 3:30 PM)

12-month contract position located in Sparks, MD. 40 hours per week.

About the role

Uses a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within a plant, office, or warehouse. May maintain records. Develops skills in basic tasks, techniques, and procedures within one skill area/process/method. Applies basic knowledge and skills to complete routine tasks consisting of prescribed steps. Works within clearly defined SOPs and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines. Works under general to limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, conveyers, cranes, handcarts, and power trucks
• Move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products within a plant, office, or warehouse
• Maintain records as needed
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality guidelines

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Zero to one year of warehouse experience or related experience and/or training
• Obtain and/or maintain appropriate licenses/training/certifications as needed
• Basic skills training in an analytical/scientific method or operational process area (e.g., material handling and management, logistics, manufacturing production)
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to read, write, interpret, and comprehend documents written in English
• Ability to perform basic math calculations
• Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment
• General computer skills

• Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, balance, climb, lift, crouch, reach, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, and twist
• Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, feel, pick, or type, which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, or fingers
• Lifting and/or moving over 50 lbs
• Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, extreme weather conditions, and vibration
• Occasional exposure to work in high, precarious places and fumes/airborne particles
• Works in hot conditions during summer months (no AC) and cold conditions during winter months (limited heating)
• Moderate to loud noise level in the work environment

Pay

$16–20 per hour

Schedule

7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime possible
