Material Handler SS Third Shift

Essential Position Responsibilities

• Transfers product from inbound trucks to storage areas.
• Stores product by product and lot number using an industrial forklift or hand lift.
• Works from written or verbal instructions.
• Operates forklift to pick up, move, place and position materials or products as required.
• Performs routine servicing of equipment such as fueling, and checking fluid levels and tires.
• Notifies the maintenance department of any major issues or repairs.
• Prepares inventory reports and paperwork to monitor and account for inventory by lot and product number.
• Handles ingredients safely and by following company quality standards.
• Communicates with shift managers to schedule deliveries and pick-ups with Simmons facility.
• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives

• Familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies).
• Responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities

• Must be able to work on feet for the entire shift.
• Moves or lifts product weighing up to 75 pounds from floor to shoulder height.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Eye protection.
• Ear protection.
• Steel toed shoes.

Travel

• Uses company vehicles within a 60 mile radius.

Technical Experience

• Basic computer skills.

Industry Experience

• Preference for warehouse setting handling ingredients.

Competencies

• Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues.
